Will_Snyder_Backup
William S. Snyder began his practice in 1994 in the Dallas office of Vinson & Elkins. Over the past 10 years, Will's trial practice has involved representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil commercial cases, personal injury/product liability cases and securities arbitrations.

In most of his commercial cases, Will represents clients, primarily corporations, pursuing or faced with claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation, misappropriation of trade secrets, quasi-contractual or equitable claims, ultra vires claims against officers and directors, partnership disputes, claims arising from failed mergers and acquisitions, and claims for securities and accounting fraud. His arbitration experience includes prosecuting and defending securities cases before the NASD. He also has experience in personal injury cases and has defended clients in SEC investigations and federal criminal matters involving securities fraud.

His extensive and varied experience and track record of success have earned him recognition as a Texas Monthly "Rising Star" and his recent major case experience includes:

  • Successfully defending his client in a bench trial wherein the opposing party sought over $1 million on breach of contract claims, and obtaining a judgment of over $240,000 on his client’s counterclaims.
  • Successfully defending a respondent in an arbitrated partnership dispute by obtaining an arbitrator’s award of no liability or damages despite claims for more than $6.5 million in damages.
  • Obtaining full and final summary judgment against the plaintiff in partnership dispute where the plaintiff sought approximately $7 million in damages.
  • Obtaining a settlement valued at approximately $4 million for a client in a breach of contract case
  • Successfully defending Deere and Company (d/b/a "John Deere") in two product liability trials involving serious personal injuries and alleged damages in excess of $1 million
  • Successfully defending respondents and obtaining a favorable arbitration award in a case where the claimants sought over $9 million in damages
  • Obtaining a $1 million settlement for his clients, who were plaintiffs in a bad faith insurance dispute

Will is a member of Phi Beta Kappa who graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin's Plan II Honors Program. He also graduated cum laude from the University of Texas Law School. He grew up in Dallas and currently resides there with his wife, Sharon, and their two sons.

Stefani Carter
Stefani Carter represents clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation disputes. Prior to joining Sayles Werbner, Stefani honed her courtroom skills as an assistant district attorney in the Collin County District Attorney’s Office. Her legal background also includes extensive courtroom experience handling litigation involving real estate disputes, products liability claims, and other matters while she was with the firm of Vinson & Elkins in Dallas.

Stefani earned her law degree at Harvard Law School after earning her master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. In addition, her educational background includes two undergraduate degrees in government and journalism from The University of Texas.

During her academic career, Stefani served internships or fellowships for a diverse group of public and private organizations, including the Heritage Foundation, Center for the Study of the Presidency, American Society for Newspaper Editors, Office of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, and USA Today.

Gov. Rick Perry recently appointed Stefani to the State Board for Educator Certification for a term of six years. The Board develops certification and continuing education requirements and standards of conduct for public school teachers.

She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, and is licensed to practice in all Texas state district courts.

Gali Zinger
Gali Zinger is an internationally experienced attorney who has practiced law since she was admitted to the Israeli bar in 2000. She has extensive experience in litigation and commercial law, and has worked on cases involving tort, patent, copyright, trademark, inheritance, employment, class actions, and complex business claims.

Her litigation experience includes drafting claims and motions, preparing witnesses for trial, and appearing before the court, including conducting cross-examinations. In addition,

  • Successfully represented a construction company in proceedings of arbitration regarding the construction of a $20 million project in Israel
  • Helped successfully represent the owners of some of the world’s most famous brands – inter alia, Adidas, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Warner Bros., Fila – in proceedings before court and before the registrar of trademarks, patents and designs 
Gali’s commercial experience includes:
  • Successfully administrated the legal procedural aspects for the Israeli representative of Michelin Tires, including founding a new company and transferring activity from one of Israel’s largest companies in a deal worth $10 million
  • Conducted complex commercial transactions from structuring, through negotiations to the drafting and signing of contracts including share purchase agreements, stockholders agreements, investment agreements, loan agreements, services agreements and lease agreements 
Gali received her L.L.B. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1999 and her L.L.M. from Tel-Aviv University in 2004, where she graduated cum laude. She served as a Sergeant in the Israeli Air Force and currently resides in Dallas with her husband, Dr. Nuni Bruck, and their son.

Darren Nicholson
Darren Nicholson joined Sayles Werbner in 2008, and was previously a trial attorney with the law firm of Arnold & Porter, LLP in Washington, D.C. Darren has extensive experience in all phases of litigation, from investigation to post-verdict appeal. He has taken more than fifty trial preservation and discovery depositions and has been a regular speaker on deposition strategies and tactics.

Darren’s trial experience includes first-chair criminal defense work, as well as participation in multiple civil jury trials for a defendant pharmaceutical company, with defense verdicts featured in the National Law Journal for “exemplary, cutting-edge work on the defense side.”

He has represented both individuals and Fortune 500 companies in cases involving products liability defense, criminal defense, consumer class actions, copyright arbitrations, FOIA litigation, and fraudulent trading investigations and enforcement actions by the CFTC.     

Darren received his law degree cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2001, where he was awarded the DeCrane scholarship. Darren was the Senior Articles and Notes Editor for the American Criminal Law Review and won the International Trial Lawyers’ Association award for appellate advocacy.  Darren earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife Sarah live in Dallas with their two young daughters, Ellie and Anna.

Kimberly C. Priest-Johnson
Kimberly C. Priest-Johnson is an accomplished trial lawyer with experience in numerous jury trials, complex arbitrations and major settlements. She began her legal career in 2000 as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn of the United States District Court for the Northern District of  Texas, then practiced complex commercial litigation with Weil, Gotshal & Manges and Fish & Richardson. Her background also includes serving as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, where she prosecuted white collar crimes. Following her time with the government, Kimberly focused her practice primarily on white collar criminal defense at Dallas-based Meadows Owens. Kimberly’s background ranges from working with individuals and Fortune 500 companies in a variety of civil commercial cases to prosecuting and defending individuals and corporate entities accused of white collar crimes. Kimberly’s successful track record has earned her recognition as a Texas Monthly “Rising Star.”

In addition to her impressive legal credentials, Kimberly also holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and specializes in organizing and running mock jury trials. She received her law degree with honors from Southern Methodist University, where she served as Articles Editor for the SMU Law Review. Kimberly is married to M. Brett Johnson and has two sons.

Mark E. Torian
Mark E. Torian joined Sayles Werbner in 2004 and has been practicing trial law in Texas since 2000. Before he began his practice, Mark served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was assigned to Diplomatic Security with the United States Department of State. Mark's practice is concentrated on trial work in the areas of complex commercial litigation, personal injury and products liability in both state and federal courts. He also handles matters before the NASD.

Mark's legal experience includes:

  • Obtaining a $1.6 million plaintiff's verdict based on breach of an oral partnership agreement in a commercial real estate development context, involving the determination of past and future net profits interest.
  • Successfully helping to defend a drilling company in a breach of contract action brought by investors, involving the disruption of the deepest corkscrew gas well in the world at the time.
  • Successfully helping to defend an insurer from a breach of contract claim brought by an international hotel chain seeking business interruption losses for all hotels in North America and the Caribbean, due to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon.
  • Successfully defending a client in a bench trial wherein the opposing party sought over $1 million on a breach of contract claim, and obtaining a judgement of over $240,000 on his clients counterclaims.
  • Successfully defending Fortune 50 Company in a jury trial wherein opposing party sought over $1 million on breach of contract claims, and obtaining a judgement of over $400,000 on his clients counterclaims for misappropriation of trade secrets, theft of trade secrets, and conspiracy to breach duty of confidentiality.

Mark graduated magna cum laude from the University of Central Arkansas where he was a charter member of the University Boxing Club. He received his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas School of Law. Mark was a member of the Arkansas Law Review and was awarded the Pearson Fellowship in both 1998 and 1999; an honor based on ethical character in the law and public service.

Stacy D. Simon
Stacy D. Simon is a native of Dallas and she is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. She handles antitrust and commercial litigation and has represented clients in cases involving antitrust claims, securities fraud, health care-related claims, tortious interference, contract disputes, federal and state wiretaps, civil conspiracy and media-related claims.

Stacy has trial, mediation and arbitration experience, and has taken and defended numerous depositions, represented clients at state and federal hearings, and drafted numerous pretrial motions.

A cum laude graduate of Duke University in 1989, Stacy received her law degree with high honors in 1993 from the University of Texas at Austin. While attending law school, she was an Associate Editor of the Texas Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. Before joining Sayles Werbner, she clerked for U.S. District Judge A. Joe Fish of the Northern District of Texas and practiced at Vinson & Elkins in Dallas.

Mark S. Werbner
Mark S. Richard A. Sayles
Richard A. Sayles has tried more than 100 jury trials in three decades of trial practice. Whether representing plaintiffs or defendants, individuals or corporations, he thrives on the courtroom floor. Dick draws on his broad experience in both state and federal courts to handle cases involving commercial disputes, defense of and claims against corporate directors and officers, securities law claims, product liability, patent law claims, among many others. Shawn C. Long
Bringing over 18 years of legal experience to Sayles Werbner, Shawn C. Long has vast experience in the preparation of nationwide class action and international mass tort cases, as well as catastrophic personal injury and commercial disputes. She has been involved in all aspects of litigation from investigation to trial preparation, including cases involving business torts, aviation crashes, toxic torts, medical and legal malpractice, insurance disputes, product liability, wrongful death actions, and more
recently, white collar criminal matters.

Her litigation experience includes researching complex legal issues, drafting and responding to evidentiary and dispositive motions, and preparing document-intensive cases for trial.

Shawn received her J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. While at SMU, she was editor for The International Lawyer and The Law and Business Review of the Americas. Frank C. Brame has practiced law in Dallas, Texas since 2001, first with Vinson & Elkins and now with Sayles Werbner. Frank's background includes commercial trial work, multi-district class action litigation, patent litigation, oil & gas litigation, and insurance litigation.

His trial experience includes trying more than twenty criminal cases as a visiting prosecutor at the Dallas County District Attorney's Office and a three-week patent trial in a federal court in Dallas, TX.

Frank received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 2001, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Business (B.B.A. 1998) and Plan II (B.A. 1998).

Jack Ormond
Jack Ormond started his law practice with Baker Botts in 2002. He joined Sayles Werbner in 2005. Jack has worked on a variety of commercial, professional malpractice, products liability and toxic tort cases.

Eve L. Henson
Eve L. Henson has been a trial lawyer since 1994 and is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Texas and Florida.       Will’s practice focuses primarily on business litigation disputes in which he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in matters tried in the state and federal courts, or in matters that are arbitrated. In these cases, Will’s clients are typically pursuing or defending against claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent or negligent misrepresentation, misappropriation of trade secrets, quasi-contractual or equitable claims, ultra vires claims against officers or directors, securities and accounting fraud, partnership disputes, and claims arising from failed mergers and acquisitions.   • Defending his clients in a securities-related arbitration where the arbitration panel awarded claimants less than .05 % of the $9 million they sought in damages.

  • Trying his corporate client’s claims in an extended securities arbitration, resulting in a favorable confidential settlement before the panel was to render its award.

  • Obtaining a no-liability finding for his client in a partnership dispute tried to an arbitrator in which the adverse party sought damages exceeding $6.5 million.

  • Arguing and obtaining a summary judgment exceeding $3.5 million for a corporate plaintiff in a breach of contract dispute involving intellectual property.

  • Arguing and obtaining full and final summary judgment for his defendant client in a partnership dispute where the plaintiff sought approximately $7 million in damages.

Mark D. Strachan
Mark D. Strachan is a native of East Texas, having practiced in and near Marshall, Texas for 25 years before moving to Dallas.He is certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury and commercial cases. He has tried cases to jury verdict in most state district courts in Northeast Texas, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District. Sawyer Neely joined Sayles Werbner in 2006. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of complex commercial cases involving, among other issues, the RICO Act, securities and partnership disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, minority shareholder oppression, the Federal Fair Housing Act, deceptive trade practices, construction and delay-related disputes, fraud, negligence and breach of contract. His experience includes taking depositions and preparing and arguing a variety of pretrial motions, including motions for summary judgment, Daubert motions, motions in limine and motions to compel discovery.

Sawyer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Vanderbilt University in 1999, and graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2003. Sawyer was an associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and a member of the Order of the Coif. He also represented victims of domestic violence in the District of Columbia Superior Court through Georgetown's Domestic Violence Clinic. Before joining Sayles Werbner, Sawyer practiced at Jones Day in Dallas and Washington, DC. He and his wife Suzanne have two sons, Wes and Colin.
Joel Israel
Joel Israel has been practicing law since 2003 and joined Sayles Werbner in 2006. He has been involved in all aspects of litigation from investigation through trial, with representative cases in the areas of toxic tort, employment discrimination and harassment, securities, personal injury, products liability, and white collar criminal matters. His litigation experience includes drafting evidentiary and dispositive motions, preparing expert and other witnesses for trial, and conducting depositions, witness interviews, and wide-ranging research.

Prior to joining Sayles Werbner, Joel gained valuable experience and training with Paul Hastings’ Employment Law Department in Los Angeles, and also practiced with Latham & Watkins’ Litigation Department in Washington, D.C. He is licensed to practice in Texas, California, and Washington, D.C.

Joel received his law degree, with honors, from Duke University in 2003. While at Duke, he was an executive board member of the Moot Court Board, as well as a staff editor of the Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy. Joel also attended Duke for college, receiving a BA degree in psychology in 1999. He grew up in Dallas and currently resides there with his wife, Elizabeth.
Christopher W. Hogue
Christopher W. Hogue is a native of Dallas. Chris has worked on a variety of matters in the areas of complex commercial litigation involving breach of contract, fraud, and negligence, as well as environmental regulation and securities matters before the NASD. His experience includes drafting motions, conducting depositions, evaluating cases, and researching substantive and procedural legal issues.

A cum laude graduate of Texas Tech University in 2001, Chris received his law degree in 2004 from Texas Tech University School of Law. While attending law school, Chris was an active participant in several negotiation and mediation competitions.
