(Dallas, Texas) – Lawyers from Dallas’ Sayles Werbner, including name partner Mark Werbner, obtained a $73.5 million verdict against Sears Roebuck and Company on February 2, 2007 in a lawsuit arising out of the improper redemption of Sears’ corporate bonds. Eleven plaintiffs, including several large insurance companies and pension funds, had lost millions when Sears redeemed 1991 corporate bonds in violation of the terms of the bond indentures.

Director of ?The Secret? Files Copyright Lawsuit

Sayles Werbner represents Drew Heriot, the director and screenplay co-author of the film “The Secret”, in a federal lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Illinois/Eastern Division. The lawsuit seeks a declaration that Mr. Heriot has a right to a full accounting of proceeds from all creative forms of “The Secret,” as well as a percentage of those profits. The lawsuit also seeks financial compensation for Mr. Heriot based on copyright infringement and unjust enrichment on the part of named defendants.

Parents Say Faulty Bridge Design, TxDOT Detour Led to Deaths

(Corsicana, Texas) – The mother and father of two children who drowned last May when their car was swept away by floodwaters, say the City of Corsicana and the Texas Department of Transportation are responsible for the children’s deaths. The parents, Patrick Stewart of Corsicana and Sentria Whitfield of Dallas, filed suit today in Navarro County, alleging the city and TxDOT knew of the dangerous flood conditions that killed 2-1/2 year old Patrick and 13-month old Brooke Stewart, but failed to prevent the deaths.
