Patent Trial Lawyer Richard Sayles Recognized for Top Verdict of 2009
DALLAS - Patent trial lawyer Richard Sayles, co-founder of Sayles Werbner, is featured in a report about the country's top verdicts of 2009 published by The National Law Journal.

Mr. Sayles is featured in the publication based on his work in a 2009 trial that resulted in the year's largest U.S. verdict and the largest intellectual property verdict in history.

Abbott Laboratories, which concluded following Mr. Sayles' stirring closing arguments before jurors issued a record-setting verdict of $1.67 billion for Mr. Sayles' client, Centocor.
 
"If there was going to be a verdict in that case, the numbers were going to be high numbers," Mr. Sayles told the publication.

Mr. Sayles represented Centocor along with lead counsel Dianne Elderkin, formerly of Philadelphia's Woodcock Washburn and now with Akin Gump Straus Hauer & Feld. The case was heard in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, where Mr. Sayles actively represents some of the world's leading companies in intellectual property cases.
