Richard Sayles Featured Speaker in Texas Assn. of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists Program
Houston – Trial lawyer Richard "Dick" Sayles of Sayles Werbner will be one of two featured speakers in an upcoming program sponsored by the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists focusing on how to maintain good relationships with opposing counsel in high-stakes litigation.
Accomplished attorney Stephen Susman of Houston’s Susman Godfrey will join Mr. Sayles in providing practical advice and insight for fellow attorneys during the program titled “How to Get Along with Opposing Counsel.”
Mr. Sayles, who regularly handles intellectual property matters and complex commercial claims for leading technology companies and other businesses, recently helped a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson win a $1.67 billion verdict in a patent infringement case tried in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. That verdict is recognized as the largest intellectual property jury award in U.S. history.
The upcoming program will be held in Houston at the Four Seasons Hotel on September 17, 2009.
Mr. Sayles has tried more than 100 jury trials in three decades of trial practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants insignificant courtroom litigation. His trial background includes broad experience in both state and federal courts handling cases involving intellectual property issues, patent law claims, commercial disputes, defense of and claims against corporate directors and officers, securities law claims and product liability claims, among many others.
A frequent lecturer at local and national seminars, Mr. Sayles is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
