Sayles Werbner Helps Wrongly Convicted Man Win Day in Court
Trial lawyer Mark Werbner of Sayles Werbner and Sean Modjarrad of Dallas' M&A Law Firm won an important federal court ruling for an Irving, Texas, man who spent nearly 10 years in prison for a crime that DNA evidence proved he didn't commit.

The ruling from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals allows Donald Wayne Good to move forward with a lawsuit against a former police detective who altered evidence in order to help convict Mr. Good of rape in 1984. The incredible story has earned widespread media attention, including articles in The Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, Texas Lawyer, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and many others. "This is a great day for Donald and any other person who has suffered in prison because someone on the outside wanted a conviction at all costs," Mr. Werbner said the day the ruling was announced. "By allowing this lawsuit to proceed, the appeals court has affirmed Donald's right to ask a jury to hold somebody responsible for costing him nearly 10 years of his life."
