Four Lawyers from Dallas' Sayles Werbner Honored on Texas Rising Stars List

DALLAS – Four attorneys from Dallas’ Sayles Werbner are among the top young lawyers in Texas honored on the 2014 Texas Rising Stars list. They are being recognized for their work in business litigation.

Joel Israel, Shawn C. Long and Darren Nicholson earned their fourth selections to the exclusive list of the leading legal experts in Texas, which includes only those attorneys who are age 40 or younger or who have practiced for no more than 10 years. Robert L. Sayles claimed his third consecutive listing to Texas Rising Stars.

“Our young lawyers possess the legal talent and abilities found only in attorneys many years their senior, and I have to believe their honors on Texas Rising Stars reflect exactly that,” says Sayles Werbner co-founder Richard A. “Dick” Sayles. He has been honored on the companion Texas Super Lawyers list along with fellow co-founder Mark S. Werbner since 2003.

Israel and Long are members of the Sayles Werbner team that won an award of $1.3 million in attorneys’ fees last year on behalf of a group of international terrorism victims in the ongoing New York federal lawsuit against Arab Bank over alleged worldwide terrorism funding. Israel regularly represents clients in products liability defense matters, commercial claims, real estate disputes, fiduciary and contractual breaches, employment discrimination and harassment, and securities matters. Long also handles commercial claims, in addition to cases involving products liability, wrongful death, catastrophic personal injuries, securities fraud and intellectual property.

Nicholson currently is handling a significant wrongful death lawsuit filed last year on behalf of the children of an oil rig worker who was electrocuted while working in a West Texas oil field in 2012. Nicholson regularly represents both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving intellectual property claims, white-collar criminal defense, products liability and complex commercial litigation. Rob Sayles represents both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving commercial claims, products liability, catastrophic personal injuries, wrongful death and insurance defense.

Sayles Werbner maintains an international reputation as a proven trial law firm in complex business litigation, intellectual property matters, life-altering personal injury cases, product safety claims and practically every type of case that requires courtroom expertise.
